Smart Switches and Dimmers

Smart switches require a neutral wire that many older homes do not have in switch boxes. Rather than installing a workaround device that causes flickering and buzzing, we run the neutral wire properly. LED dimmers are spec'd to match your specific fixtures to prevent buzz, flicker, and early LED driver failure.

Lighting and Smart Home Questions

Most LED bulbs and strip lights require a dimmer specifically rated for LED loads. Incandescent dimmers are not compatible with most LED drivers and cause buzzing, flickering, and reduced bulb life. We specify and install dimmers matched to your actual fixtures during every lighting project.

Some smart switches advertise no-neutral operation, but most produce audible buzz, ghost glow, or compatibility issues without a neutral. The correct solution is to run a neutral wire to the switch box, which we do as part of every smart switch installation.

New outdoor circuit work typically requires a permit from your local building department. Adding fixtures to existing circuits usually does not, but new circuits run from the panel always do. We determine the permit requirement for your specific scope and file accordingly.
