EV Charger Installation Questions Answered

Not always. Many homes with a 200-amp panel have available capacity for a 50-amp EV charger circuit. We assess your panel load during the free site visit and give you a straight answer. If your panel is undersized or at capacity, we quote both the panel upgrade and the charger together with a single fixed price for the full scope.

Most residential Level 2 charger installations take 3 to 5 hours on site. If a panel upgrade is also needed, the combined project typically runs two days. We pull the permit before scheduling, so the inspector visit is usually one to three days after installation.

A Level 2 charger on a 50-amp circuit uses 6 AWG copper wire and a 2-pole 50-amp breaker. Some chargers are designed for a 60-amp circuit with 4 AWG wire. We spec the circuit to match your specific charger and run the wire in conduit or through the wall depending on your garage configuration.
